Have you ever found the perfect article for a research paper, only to realize that the database does not have the full-text version? With the AML's Journal Finder you can search through the library’s catalog and all its databases in order to find a full-text copy. All you need is a citation for the article containing the journal name, issue/volume number, page numbers, and article title.
Directions for Use
- First you have to find the Journal Finder link on the library’s website. Here’s a hint: is on the right side of the library's home page.
- After clicking on the link, it will take you to the Journal Finder main page, where you can search by journal title. The advanced search link allows you to serach by ISSN numberm or browse through the journals by subject area or database.
- The results represent all different formats for the journal: whether we have it in our paper holdings, or which databases have it full text. The other icons allow you to submit a Interlibrary loan request for journals we don't have access to, or show other nearby libraries that have subscriptions to the full text.

- Clicking on the "print icon" will take you to a library record listing the volumes/issues the library has. Or, if you click on the "online" icon, it will take you to a listing of all the issues indexed within the database (including those not full-text).
- To get to the full-text article from a database, you need to choose the year, either from the provided list or drop down menu. Then you choose the issue/volume, and browse through the articles to find the correct article title or page number. (This is where the full citation comes in handy.)
- Once you find the full-text you can either save it, email it, or print it out.
Caution
In some cases the databases may not have an entire issue full-text, just select articles. Or, it may not have the full-text for the most recent article (there is often up to one year delay, depending on the journal and database). These may require you to submit an Interlibrary Loan request to find the article.
